Carl Morris

Developer Associate

Carl is a web developer and consultant, based in Cardiff, Wales.

He is the lead developer on the Mapio Cymru project, responsible for managing, developing and maintaining our server infrastructure. Carl also provides technical input into our consultancy work and has worked on Data Orchard projects for Transport for Wales, National Library of Wales, and the Welsh Government.

In addition to the development of online services in Welsh and other lesser-resourced languages, Carl’s professional interests also include open innovation, collaborative platforms, media reform, and building viable alternatives to Big Tech.

Carl also lectures and speaks about social media, apps, and the web – often in the context of minoritised languages – at events such as FOSS4G, the National Eisteddfod of Wales, and Hacio'r Iaith. He is an invited contributor to BBC Radio Cymru on these and related topics.
