Chair of the board

Suraj (he/him) leads the Design & Technology practice at Nesta, the UK’s innovation agency for social good. He first joined Data Orchard’s board in 2020, stepping into the newly created Vice Chair role in 2022, and taking over from Nancy James as Chair of the Board in January 2024

He is a senior leader and practitioner in design, product development and software engineering, and has a rich history of leveraging design, technology, and data to create products and services that serve societal needs. His interdisciplinary approach is underpinned by extensive experience and a keen understanding of design, digital technology, and data for public benefit, enabling him to navigate diverse challenges with strategic insight and practical acumen.

He has set up and supported lots of teams to deliver social impact across various sectors and scales. With over a decade of experience in coaching and facilitation, he’s guided and inspired teams to achieve their full potential while establishing effective digital and design practices within organisations.
